As the world becomes increasingly tech-driven, it is more and more important to get kids excited about STEM learning. The trick is to do this without sacrificing crucial “playtime” … but how? Thankfully, this problem has been solved by groups like QuestBotics, who allowed us to print their STEM manual printing project.
QuestBotics is a group of technologists and educators who are on a mission to “educate the best minds of the future, one playtime at a time.” They do this by travelling all over the world to help students better understand advanced technology in a hands-on play environment.
They believe that when kids have the opportunity to tinker around with the same types of tools and equipment that real-life engineers and scientists use, there is a greater chance of sparking STEM interest and a life-long thirst for learning and discovery.
This project is a manual for their QuestBot: a robot toy that is controlled by the instructions the child creates with coding “Qubes.” By utilizing the easy-to-read directions and accompanying images, even the least-tech-savvy parent can help their child master different coding challenges.
Once they have the hang of it, the manual provides room for continued growth, with examples of different kinds of “code” they can use to make their robot perform new tasks and the tools to come up with their own instructions.
